Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has alleged that Senate President Godswill Akpabio is targeting her politically because she rejected his advances.
Speaking on Arise TV Nigeria, Akpoti claimed that her issues with Akpabio began on December 8, 2023, when she and her husband attended his birthday celebration in Akwa Ibom.
“During the visit, Akpabio was showing me around his house while holding my hands. My husband was following behind us when Akpabio said he wanted me to start spending special moments in his house. My husband overheard him and later warned me not to travel abroad alone or be with the Senate President alone,” she stated.
The senator likened her situation to that of a student being punished by a lecturer for refusing to sleep with him.
This revelation follows a recent legal battle between Akpoti and Akpabio, where she sued the Senate President for defamation. The tensions between them have escalated in recent weeks, with allegations of political intimidation surfacing.
Despite these accusations, Senate President Akpabio has not publicly responded to Akpoti’s claims. The allegations have sparked widespread debate, with many calling for an independent investigation into the matter.
