The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has apprehended 17 suspects for allegedly vandalizing telecommunication and power installations in Yobe State.
The arrests were confirmed in a statement shared on NSCDC’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Thursday, February 20, 2025. The agency emphasized its commitment to tackling infrastructure vandalism, warning that perpetrators will face the full weight of the law.
“NSCDC goes tough on vandals, arrests 17 suspects for destruction of telecom and power installations in Yobe,” the statement read.
Vandalism of critical infrastructure has been a growing concern in Nigeria, with criminals targeting telecom masts, power lines, and other essential facilities, causing economic losses and service disruptions.
The NSCDC has ramped up efforts to protect national assets, deploying intelligence and rapid response teams to combat these criminal activities.
