JUST IN: Terrorist Group ‘Mahmuda’ Launches Fresh Attack on Kwara Village

A terrorist group identified as Mahmuda has reportedly launched a fresh assault on Duruma village (Karonji) in Baruten Local Government Area of Kwara State. The attack, which occurred on Friday evening, has thrown the community into panic, with fears of further violence spreading across the region.

According to multiple sources who spoke with SaharaReporters, the assailants stormed the village on motorcycles and began shooting indiscriminately, sending residents fleeing into the surrounding bush for safety.

Eyewitnesses confirmed that the attackers set fire to a vehicle and several motorcycles belonging to members of the local vigilante group, who are often the first line of defense in remote communities lacking formal security presence.

As of Saturday morning, the full extent of the damage and any potential casualties had yet to be officially confirmed, but tension remains high in the community, with locals expressing growing concerns over the frequency and boldness of such attacks in recent weeks.

Residents of Duruma and neighboring villages have appealed to both the Kwara State Government and security agencies to deploy more personnel to the area to prevent further loss of lives and property.

The attack is the latest in a string of violent incidents in Nigeria’s North-Central region, where rural communities continue to face threats from insurgents, bandits, and other armed groups. Authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the attack, but local sources indicate that efforts are ongoing to assess the situation and restore order.
