Nigeria Brig General makes history as he jumps from a Moving Airplane

Brig.-Gen. Abubakar Aliyu has etched his name in history as the second General in the Nigerian Army to jump from a moving plane at the Nigerian Air Force Base, Kaduna.

This remarkable feat, achieved in a display of courage and leadership, mirrors the accomplishment of former Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. KTJ Minimah.

Minimah, as the Commandant of the Nigerian Army School of Infantry, had been the most senior officer to execute a parachute jump. Now, Aliyu has followed in his footsteps, reinforcing the Nigerian Army’s ethos of “No Guts, No Glory.”

Aliyu’s jump was not just a personal achievement; it was a demonstration of his commitment to the future of the Nigerian Army.

He was joined by cadets from the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), for whom this marked their first parachute jump and the beginning of their military careers.

Speaking after the jump, Aliyu emphasized the significance of the experience: “For the cadets who jumped alongside me, this moment will be unforgettable. It instills confidence, courage, and a deep understanding of true leadership.”

His actions embody the Nigerian Army’s core values, where leaders lead by example, sharing in the challenges of those they command.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that as the Nigerian Army continues to shape its future leaders, Aliyu’s historic jump will serve as a lasting inspiration—a testament to leadership that steps forward, not just with words, but with action.
