‘US was fed with lies’ – Femi Adesina explains why US removed Nigeria from religious freedom violators’ list

Femi Adeshina, Special Adviser on media to Muhammadu Buhari has explained why Nigeria was removed from US blacklist of countries that violates religious freedom.

In the year 2019, former US secretary of State Mike Pompeo, announced that Nigeria has been placed on special watch-list (SWL) on Countries that violates Religious freedom.

On November 17, 2021 the US Secretary of state Anthony Blinking made announcement on countries that violates religious freedom am Nigeria was missing from the watchlist.

While speaking on the development on Sunrise Daily, Channels Television programme, Adeshina said that Nigeria was removed from the washlist after US discovered they where fed with lies about what is happening in Nigeria.

Adeshina Said;

“The secretary said putting Nigeria on the watchlist was not based on facts, and you know that Nigerians themselves going to America to feed them with incorrect positions about what is happening in Nigeria. And that was why Nigeria was put on that watchlist,” he said.

“But when America discovered that it was not based on facts, Nigeria was removed. It is a very good development for us.”

“No sovereign nation should allow a headmaster-pupil relationship. America is a much bigger power economically, militarily and in every other forms, but Nigeria would not subject itself to America as a vassal state.

“We will relate and our citizens who are many in America would comply by the laws of their host.”
