Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong has picked up an injury, but team officials insist it is not serious enough to rule him out of Nigeria’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe later this month.
The defender, who plays for Saudi Arabian club Al Kholood, has been absent from his club’s last two league matches due to the unspecified injury, raising concerns about his availability for the crucial qualifiers.
However, officials have assured fans that the injury is not a major concern. Speaking to SCORENigeria, they stated:
“It is nothing to be worried about. He will play in the World Cup qualifiers.”
The Super Eagles will face Rwanda on March 21 in Kigali, followed by a clash against Zimbabwe on March 25 in Uyo.
Troost-Ekong’s presence will be vital for Nigeria as they look to secure crucial points on the road to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
