Osun Court Orders Woman to Pay ₦150,000 to Boyfriend for Breach of Promise

A Magistrate Court in Ilesa, Osun State, has ordered Miss Rhoda Adu to pay ₦150,000 in damages to her boyfriend, Olapitan Sola, after failing to honor a promise to visit him.

The case, which has sparked widespread attention, stems from Adu accepting ₦3,000 as transport fare but failing to make the trip.

According to reports, after receiving the money, Adu blocked Sola’s number and switched off her phone, prompting him to file a complaint at the nearest police station. Evidence from a mobile money transfer and incriminating WhatsApp messages implicated Adu, leading to her arrest.

In his ruling, Magistrate Akogun Oludare ordered Adu to refund the ₦3,000 transport fare, pay ₦100,000 for breach of agreement, and an additional ₦50,000 for special damages and emotional trauma caused by her actions.

This ruling highlights the legal risks of failing to uphold personal agreements and has ignited debates on social media regarding trust and financial accountability in relationships.
