The Association of Telecommunications Companies of Nigeria (ATCON) has raised alarm over the looming shutdown of telecom services nationwide due to the ongoing diesel supply crisis.
Telecommunications companies in Nigeria rely heavily on diesel-powered generators to keep their operations running, especially in areas with unstable electricity supply.

“Telecom companies are struggling to sustain operations amid the high cost of diesel, and without immediate action, a shutdown may be inevitable,” the association stated.

Experts have called for alternative energy solutions and policy reforms to reduce dependence on diesel while ensuring the sustainability of telecom infrastructure.
