The Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri, has suspended a facilitator, Mr. Okoroafor Ifeanyichukwu, after a viral video showed him physically assaulting a student.
The suspension was confirmed in an official letter (Ref: FPN/TEDC/80/1) dated March 14, 2025. The letter stated that Ifeanyichukwu would remain suspended pending the outcome of an investigation into the incident, which occurred on March 13, 2025, at the Technical and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (TEDC) during an entrepreneurship training session.
Signed by the Director of TEDC, Dr. Okoye P.C., the letter was also copied to the Rector, Dean of Student Affairs, and the Student Union Government.
The viral video that led to his suspension shows Ifeanyichukwu slapping a student identified as Chidera, before kicking him so hard that he fell onto a cemented walkway, damaging his phone. The facilitator then walked away, leaving the student stunned.
The disturbing footage sparked outrage among students and the public, prompting swift action from the institution.
The Polytechnic management assured students that a thorough investigation would be conducted, emphasizing its commitment to maintaining discipline and a safe learning environment.
