UK, France, and Italy Urge Hamas to Accept Trump’s Gaza Peace Plan

Three major European powers the United Kingdom, France, and Italy  have publicly called on Hamas to accept former U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposed peace plan for Gaza, describing it as a possible breakthrough to end the ongoing conflict.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, speaking on Tuesday, urged the Palestinian group to embrace the initiative, saying it offered a path out of violence.

“We call on Hamas to agree to the plan, end the suffering by laying down arms, and release all remaining hostages,” Starmer was quoted by The Guardian as saying.

In Paris, French President Emmanuel Macron expressed support for the U.S.-backed proposal, emphasizing that France was prepared to play a role in ensuring its implementation.

“France is ready to contribute to efforts that will end the war and restore stability,” Macron said, underscoring the urgency of a sustainable resolution.

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni also welcomed the plan, describing it as “a potential turning point to ensure a lasting ceasefire, the immediate release of all hostages, and safe humanitarian access for civilians in Gaza.”

A central element of the proposal is the establishment of a “Peace Council,” an international body that would oversee governance of the Gaza Strip in the aftermath of hostilities.

Supporters argue that this mechanism could help guarantee neutrality, facilitate aid delivery, and create conditions for rebuilding the war-torn enclave.

While Washington and its allies frame the initiative as a realistic step toward peace, Hamas has yet to issue an official response.

Analysts warn that implementation would face significant hurdles, including questions about representation, security arrangements, and acceptance from other regional actors.

The calls mark a coordinated European effort to increase pressure on Hamas, while signaling strong Western alignment with Washington’s approach to resolving the Gaza crisis.
