In another developing Story, The Nigerian Army has confirmed that five suspected gunmen were killed during a special operation targeting the notorious gang leader known as Gentle De Yahoo.
According to military authorities, the raid was a carefully coordinated mission designed to avoid detection. Soldiers reportedly trekked for nearly four hours on foot, opting not to use armored vehicles to maintain the element of surprise. “It was more like a commando mission,” an Army spokesperson said.
Troops surrounded Gentle De Yahoo’s hideout before coming under heavy fire from gang members shooting from the roof. The Army stated that after attempts to get the assailants to surrender failed, the troops set the building ablaze to force them out.
“As the fire spread, two females and three males tried to escape, but were shot by troops. Three others remained on the roof. One of them, identified as Gentle’s second-in-command, attempted to scale the wall but was gunned down,” the Army revealed.
Four bodies — two male and two female — were recovered from the scene. The Army, however, could not immediately confirm if Gentle De Yahoo himself was among the dead.
Local residents have reportedly confirmed the death of the gang leader’s deputy, while speculation continues about Gentle’s fate.
“We are still in the process of confirming whether Gentle De Yahoo was killed or if he managed to escape,” the Army spokesperson said. “In due time, we will inform Nigerians of the exact situation.”
Military officials stressed that the operation had dealt a major blow to the gang’s network, significantly weakening its capacity to carry out further attacks on the community.
