The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) in Ogun State has arrested six illegal migrants from Cameroon who entered the country through unauthorized routes.
The individuals were apprehended during a routine security operation aimed at curbing illegal migration and ensuring national security.
According to immigration officials, the arrested migrants failed to provide valid travel documents or entry permits. Their unauthorized entry raised security concerns, prompting swift action by the authorities.
The Ogun State Immigration Command has assured the public that due process will be followed, and the individuals will be processed according to Nigeria’s immigration laws.
A spokesperson for the immigration service reiterated the agency’s commitment to protecting Nigeria’s borders and preventing illegal migration. “We are intensifying efforts to detect and deter unauthorized entries into the country, ensuring that all migrants comply with the law,” the official stated.
Authorities have urged residents, especially in border communities, to report any suspicious movements to security agencies.
The arrested migrants are currently in custody and will undergo further investigation to determine the next course of action, which may include deportation or other legal proceedings.
