Swedish authorities have confirmed the arrest of a 16-year-old boy in connection with a triple homicide that occurred on Monday in the city of Uppsala.
According to police sources, the teenage suspect, who had recently returned to Sweden from Somalia, is believed to have opened fire inside a barber shop, killing three young men aged between 15 and 20. The incident, which sent shockwaves across the nation, is being linked to ongoing gang-related violence.
Investigators revealed that the boy’s mother had taken him to Somalia in an attempt to separate him from the escalating gang activity in Sweden. However, shortly after returning to the country, he allegedly carried out the fatal attack, raising fresh concerns about the growing influence of youth gangs in urban areas.
The shooting took place in broad daylight, with multiple witnesses reportedly present inside and near the barbershop when the attack occurred. Emergency services arrived at the scene to find three victims critically injured; all were later confirmed dead.
Police say the suspect was apprehended without resistance and is currently in custody as investigations continue. Authorities have not yet disclosed the motive behind the killings but confirmed that all three victims had previous connections to local gang activities.
