Lagos State Police have apprehended two Pakistani nationals, identified as Roman Gull (19) and Aftab Ahmad (28), for their alleged involvement in a kidnapping syndicate targeting a 48-year-old Pakistani man in Ikeja.
The suspects, along with five accomplices who are still at large, lured the victim from Kano with a fraudulent job offer for a chef position. Upon his arrival in Lagos, they abducted him and demanded a ₦50 million ransom from his employer.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Thursday, March 6, 2025.
According to the statement, the Ikeja Police Division received a distress call on March 5 regarding the abduction.
Officers quickly responded, leading to the rescue of the victim and the arrest of two suspects, while five others escaped.
Investigations revealed that the kidnappers booked the victim’s flight from Kano to Lagos, lodged him in a hotel, and later overpowered him, tying his hands and legs before demanding ransom from his employer.
The employer initially paid ₦1 million to buy time before notifying the police.
Recovered items include:
•A Toyota Camry used for the operation
•$2,000 cash belonging to the victim
•Three ATM cards
•The victim’s green card, driver’s license, and NIN slip
Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects, while the rescued victim is safe and has reconnected with his family.
Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, commended the officers for their swift action and reaffirmed the police’s commitment to security across the state.
