In a groundbreaking display of innovation, 400-level Mechatronics Engineering students at the Federal University Oye Ekiti (FUOYE) have successfully designed and built a solar-powered stove using locally sourced materials.
The project, developed as part of their MTE 407: Sensors & Actuators course, was supervised by Professor M.O. Arowolo and aimed at promoting sustainable energy solutions tailored to Nigeria’s needs.
At the official commissioning ceremony, Prof. A. Akinsanmi, Dean of Engineering, commended the students for their ingenuity and commitment to tackling real-world energy challenges.
“This project not only showcases the potential of renewable energy but also highlights the importance of leveraging local materials to drive innovation in Nigeria’s engineering sector,” he stated.
