Nigerian Wrestling Legend Power Mike Celebrated for Unbeaten Record and Global Trophy

Nigeria’s wrestling icon, Power Mike, born Michael Okpala, remains a celebrated figure in the history of global wrestling. Known for his incredible strength and unmatched skill, Power Mike retired undefeated after a spectacular career that saw him win all 125 of his professional matches.

Okpala gained international fame during the 1960s and 1970s, representing Nigeria across Europe and beyond. He toured several countries, including Sweden, Spain, France, the United Kingdom, Germany, and the former Yugoslavia, showcasing not only his athletic prowess but also the strength and resilience of African athletes on the global stage.

Among his most notable victories were legendary bouts against international opponents such as Ali Baba of Lebanon, Johnny Kwango and Power Jack of the UK, John Tiger from Canada, Judd Harris (UK), Joseph Kovacs of Hungary, and Albert Rens.

Power Mike’s undefeated record and international dominance helped elevate Nigeria’s status in global sports. Beyond the ring, he became a national hero and a symbol of discipline, strength, and patriotism.
