In a bid to ensure the well-being of Nigerian pilgrims during the 2025 Hajj, the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has unveiled a robust food monitoring system to guarantee the provision of culturally appropriate and nutritious meals.
The head of NAHCON’s Medina Feeding Committee, Alhaji Abdullahi Kabir, made this known during an inspection tour of seven catering outfits tasked with feeding Nigerian pilgrims in Madinah.
According to Kabir, the Commission has deployed strict oversight mechanisms to supervise the quality and hygiene standards of meals being served.
Speaking to journalists, Kabir confirmed that over 17,000 Nigerian pilgrims have already arrived in the holy city and are currently being catered to by the accredited catering facilities.
He emphasized that the goal is to provide meals that not only meet nutritional standards but also reflect the cultural preferences of the pilgrims.
In a statement released by the Committee’s Public Affairs Officer, Malam Ahmad Muazu, the Commission reiterated its commitment to transparency and service excellence.
“The welfare of our pilgrims remains paramount. We are ensuring that every meal served adheres to both cultural expectations and international health standards,” Muazu noted.
The feeding arrangements are part of a broader strategy by NAHCON to enhance the overall Hajj experience for Nigerian pilgrims through improved services in accommodation, transportation, and general welfare.
As the pilgrimage season progresses, NAHCON officials continue their on-ground supervision to ensure all contracted vendors comply with the Commission’s guidelines.
The initiative underscores Nigeria’s commitment to safeguarding the spiritual and physical well-being of its citizens during the sacred pilgrimage.
