In a major counter-terrorism breakthrough, the Nigerian Army has confirmed the elimination of a key associate of notorious terrorist leader Bello Turji. Alhaji Shaudo Alku was killed in a precise airstrike conducted by the Air Component of Operation Fagge Yama in Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The strike, carried out near Tunfa Primary School, targeted a gathering of terrorist elements on May 18, 2025. According to military sources, Alku had traveled from Niger Republic to attend a strategic meeting with other insurgent figures when the operation was executed.
Several other fighters, including yet-to-be-identified commanders, were also reportedly neutralized in the attack.
Alku was considered a close ally and logistic facilitator for Bello Turji, one of the most wanted terrorist leaders operating in Nigeria’s northwest.
His death marks a significant blow to the operational capabilities of Turji’s network, which has been responsible for numerous attacks, kidnappings, and disruptions in the region.
The Nigerian military says this operation is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle terror networks and restore stability in Sokoto and surrounding areas.
The Armed Forces reaffirmed their commitment to intensifying intelligence-led strikes to target high-value individuals and reduce the influence of foreign-backed terror cells.
