The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has raised alarm over the sale of expired Kiss condoms, which have reportedly been repackaged and adulterated for public distribution.
In a viral video on X (formerly Twitter), a NAFDAC official revealed that Kiss condoms, originally donated by USAID, had expired in 2022 and were officially discontinued.
However, unscrupulous individuals have allegedly been reprinting new packaging and placing substandard or expired condoms inside to deceive buyers.
The agency warns that using these expired or fake condoms poses serious health risks, including unwanted pregnancies, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and possible allergic reactions.
Authorities are currently investigating the source of the repackaged products and have urged the public to be cautious when purchasing condoms, ensuring they check expiry dates and authenticity seals.
Consumers are advised to report any suspicious condom products to NAFDAC to help curb the distribution of unsafe contraceptives.
