An elderly man has sparked social media debate after a viral video showed him walking away with a “No Parking” sign from an Access Bank branch in Aba, Abia State.
According to eyewitnesses, the man, visibly upset, claimed that the bank had been making what he described as “careless charges” on his account. In protest, he entered the bank’s premises, lifted one of the parking signposts, and attempted to take it home.
The unusual scene quickly drew the attention of passersby, some of whom tried to intervene. In the viral video shared widely on X (formerly Twitter), the man can be seen arguing that his action was a form of protest against what he called financial exploitation.
Onlookers eventually persuaded him to return the sign, which was taken back to the bank’s premises. The incident has since generated mixed reactions online, with many Nigerians expressing frustration over unexplained bank deductions, while others criticized the man’s actions as unlawful.
Access Bank has not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident. However, the video continues to trend across social media platforms, highlighting growing public anger over alleged excessive banking charges in Nigeria.
