DSS Warns Public Against Impostor, Former Officer Victor Onyedikachi Godwin

The Department of State Services (DSS) has issued a public alert regarding the activities of a dismissed staff member, Victor Onyedikachi Godwin, who has allegedly been using the name of the agency to defraud unsuspecting citizens.

In a statement released by the Service on Monday, the DSS revealed that Godwin, a former operative, was dismissed from service after disciplinary action was taken against him. Despite his suspension and subsequent dismissal, he has reportedly continued to impersonate DSS personnel and engage in fraudulent activities under the guise of official operations.

The Service warned that Godwin’s actions pose a significant threat to public trust and national security, as unsuspecting individuals may fall victim to his schemes. The DSS emphasized that the former officer no longer has any affiliation with the organization and urged members of the public to be vigilant when dealing with individuals claiming to represent the Service.

“The public is hereby advised to be wary of anyone parading themselves as a DSS official without proper identification or authorization,” the statement read. “Anyone found engaging with Victor Onyedikachi Godwin or his associates does so at their own risk.”

The DSS also appealed to citizens to report any suspicious activity involving the impersonator or other similar incidents to the nearest DSS office or security agency.

Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining professionalism and discipline within the Service, noting that acts of misconduct or fraud by former or current officers will not be tolerated.

The Service concluded by assuring Nigerians that it remains dedicated to safeguarding the country’s internal security while taking firm action against individuals who attempt to exploit its name for personal.
