An Ikeja Magistrate’s Court in Ogba, Lagos, has cleared Ibom Air passenger Comfort Emmanson of all charges relating to alleged unruly behaviour and assault on a flight crew member.
Presiding Magistrate Olanrewaju Salami on Wednesday struck out the five-count charge against Emmanson following a formal application by the police to withdraw the case.
The charges had accused her of disturbing the peace aboard an Ibom Air flight, assaulting a crew member, and engaging in conduct capable of breaching public order. She had pleaded not guilty during her earlier arraignment.
Police Prosecutor Oluwabunmi Adeitan informed the court that both the complainant and Ibom Air had decided not to pursue the matter further.
Adeitan said the withdrawal was made under instructions from the police authorities, effectively bringing the case to an end.
Magistrate Salami granted the withdrawal request and ordered Emmanson’s immediate discharge.
The ruling closes a case that had generated significant public interest after a video of the incident circulated online, sparking debate about passenger rights, crew conduct, and the handling of in-flight disputes.
Neither Emmanson nor representatives of Ibom Air commented publicly following the court’s decision. However, the judgment is likely to fuel ongoing discussions about accountability and professionalism within Nigeria’s aviation sector.
