A new security directive in Anambra State has sparked controversy after a viral video on X (formerly Twitter) claimed that women seen in public without a bra or underwear would be arrested and jailed.
The announcement was reportedly made by officials of the newly installed Anambra State security outfit, as seen in a video featuring a man speaking from a moving black Toyota Hilux.
He stated that any woman caught without proper undergarments would face immediate arrest and imprisonment.
The speaker in the video further warned that women should wear appropriate clothing that covers their bodies, adding that those seen wearing short skirts would also be detained.
The directive has sparked widespread debate, with many questioning its legality, enforcement, and impact on personal freedoms.
While some argue that it promotes decency and moral standards, others view it as an infringement on women’s rights.
As of now, there has been no official confirmation from Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo or the government regarding the enforcement of such a law.
