Anambra Govt. Reveals the Faces of Agunechemba Security Operatives Who Brutalized Female Corps Member

The Anambra State Government has identified and dismissed eight operatives of the Agunechemba Security Outfit after a viral video showed them brutalizing a female National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member in the state.

The disturbing footage, which circulated widely on social media, captured the operatives assaulting the young corps member, tearing her clothes and leaving her partially exposed.

The incident sparked nationwide outrage, with many Nigerians condemning the abuse of power by security personnel meant to safeguard lives and property.

Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo reacted swiftly, describing the assault as “unacceptable and deeply disappointing.” According to the governor, security outfits exist to protect citizens, not to humiliate or inflict harm on them.

“The government of Anambra State will not tolerate any form of abuse, harassment, or brutality against our citizens, especially from those entrusted with their protection,” Soludo said.

The governor confirmed that the eight officers involved have been dismissed from service and handed over to law enforcement agencies for further investigation and prosecution.

He assured the public that justice would be served, emphasizing that such misconduct undermines the trust between security operatives and the people they are meant to protect.

Civil society groups and youth organizations have commended the swift action, but many are calling for broader reforms within local security structures to prevent future cases of abuse.

The victim, whose identity remains undisclosed for safety reasons, is said to be receiving support following the traumatic ordeal.

The state government reiterated its commitment to citizen safety, stressing that security outfits in Anambra must operate within the confines of the law and with respect for human dignity.

The incident has reignited national conversations about accountability in Nigeria’s security sector.
