The socio cultural group of Ohanaeze Ndigbo has urged the Federal Government led by Muhammadu Buhari to assent to the request of the Northern groups whose asking for the exit of South East from Nigeria.
They insisted that Igbo’s are no longer safe in Nigeria.
According to a statement by the secretary general of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, yesterday in Abakaliki, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, he said the move of the northern groups deserve an applause as they claimed the agitation is the major cause of insecurities in Nigeria.
The Northern groups had filed a lawsuit to the Abuja high court demanding the southeast to exit from Nigeria, before the amendment of Nigerian constitution, so to avoid the repeat of blood bath of civil war in 1967-1970.
Isiguzoro statement reads:
“Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has assessed the standpoints of the Northern groups that approached Abuja Federal High Court to request that the National Assembly should be coerced by the court before their conclusion on the ongoing constitution amendment to allow the South East to exit from Nigeria.
“The plaintiffs led by Nastura Shariff, Balarabe Rufai, Abdul-Aziz Sulaiman and Aminu Adam, explained that their action was informed by the need to curtail violence and destruction as a result of the agitation for secession championed by IPOB.”
