President Godswill Akpabio has disclosed that he spent a night at the Dangote Cement factory in Obajana, Kogi State, on the wedding day of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
Speaking during Thursday’s plenary at the National Assembly, Akpabio reminisced about his close relationship with Natasha’s family, particularly her husband, whom he described as a personal friend.
“I slept in Dangote Cement factory in Obajana, Kogi State, on the night of Senator Natasha’s wedding because the Kogi airport lights were in a poor state,” Akpabio stated.
Meanwhile, in a dramatic turn of events, the Senate has suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan for six months over alleged misconduct and insubordination in the chamber.
The resolution followed the Senate’s adoption of the report presented by Senator Neda Imasuen, Chairman of the Committee on Ethics, Code of Conduct, and Public Petitions.
Natasha’s suspension comes amid ongoing tensions between her and Akpabio. The Kogi senator had previously accused the Senate President of intimidating her after she allegedly rejected his sexual advances—an allegation Akpabio has strongly denied.
The controversy has further deepened divisions in the Senate, raising concerns about gender dynamics, power struggles, and political retaliation within Nigeria’s legislative body.
